HOOPA VIGIL GARDEN FOOD PROJECT, Northern California

The community on the Hoopa Reservation is building resilence and food security

Together with local families and through the Green Environmental Leadership Program we strengthen traditional farming practices

• held a greywater/rainwater catchment workshop (2008)

• begun a 3/4 acre small scale organic farm (2009)

• held a Bay Area - Hoopa exchange with nearly 30 participants to prepare soil, dig beds, plant, discuss traditional planting techniques, install a rainwater catchment, and prepare for low-impact technologies such as drip irrigation (2010)
